FNBM’s Executive Vice President, Veronica B. Flores, was delighted and honored to be seated at the head table with Head Coach Morris, and his lovely wife, Nahn along with his parents as well as with Director of Athletics, Blake James and his family. Nearly 400 people, including many notable former UM athletes, were in attendance for the Annual University of Miami First Pitch Banquet which was held at the Miami Marriott in Dadeland. The voice of UM Baseball Jay Rokeach served as the master of ceremonies for the event. The audience was delighted to hear the vision of Head Coach Morris for the highly anticipated 2014 season! The entire roster for the 2014 season were introduced; what an impressive group of 25 gifted young men! Then the crowd listed intently as special guest speaker Mike Lowell recounted the highs and lows of his 20-year baseball career. His stories of overcoming many obstacles to become one of the best to have played the game were quite inspirational. Mr. Lowell won several prestigious awards as a third baseman, including the 2003 Silver Slugger, 2005 Gold Glove and 2007 World Series MVP.
FNBSM looks forward to an exciting baseball season and supports Coach Morris as he enters his 21st season as a head coach of the University of Miami Baseball Team!
